Administrative Assistant for Educational Initiatives
Cato Institute is a public policy research organization dedicated to individual liberty and limited government. They are seeking an Administrative Assistant for Educational Initiatives to assist with administrative and operational duties supporting the department's educational endeavors. Responsibilities Provides administrative, operational, and clerical support to department staff Manages online approval systems for expenses, reimbursements, and travel Coordinates with department leadership and Cato’s legal team to manage work contracts Coordinates and stages meetings and programming events, including scheduling with both internal and external parties, reserving space, and coordinating/obtaining catering if needed Updates standard operating procedures, data records, and file structures Coordinates with the team to facilitate the digital and physical procurement and distribution of Educational Initiatives materials, both internally and externally (i.e., books, mailers, merchandise, etc.) Supports department colleagues and performs additional duties as assigned Skills At least one year of professional work experience, ideally in an executive or administrative support-related role An associate degree in any related field Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required An understanding of libertarian political philosophy and economic theory; passionate about the mission of the Cato Institute Reliable with a strong work ethic, consistently completing tasks on time Strong interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic and positive attitude Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with individuals of various professional backgrounds and experience levels Composed and organized with a strong attention to detail, quality, accuracy, and customer focus A positive and professional mindset with the ability to provide superior support to the full Educational Initiatives team Motivated self-starter who can solve problems and is proactive in learning new processes and skills Familiarity with Salesforce Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA) Generous vacation and sick days Paid parental leave Employer-provided life and disability insurance 401(k) employer match Transit/ Parking benefits Pet discount plan Company Overview Promoting an American public policy based on individual liberty, limited government, free markets and peaceful international relations.
