Analyst, Global Investment Banking (Global Diversified Industries and Mining)

The Analyst role within CIBC’s Global Diversified Industries and Mining Investment Banking group involves generating corporate finance analytics, developing complex financial models, and supporting business development and transaction execution activities. Responsibilities Assist in developing proposals to clients and potential clients for equity and debt placements, mergers, asset or company divestitures or acquisitions, and other financial products and advisory services Conduct industry research and analysis to assist in the identification and/or analysis of investment banking business opportunities Develop and audit sophisticated financial models Prepare industry and financial analysis to determine client recommendations. Participate in cross functional teams and liaising with other units of CIBC Capital Markets in executing mandates or preparing proposals for clients. Lead industry comparable value and precedent transaction analyses Assist in company due diligence investigations Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials and assist with prospectus drafting Skills You've completed an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or similar fields Experience with meaningful financial modeling and analysis is required Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including cash flow and returns analyses Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations Must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility within short time frames Strong quantitative technical skills as it relates to basic computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), industry technology (FactSet, Bloomberg) and other applicable software Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, and internal and/or external business partners Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation and proven ability to exercise strong independent judgment when making business decisions and/or representing CIBC Capital Markets You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability Completion of and/or intention to complete a CA or CFA 1-5 years of previous experience in one or more of investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or deal advisory Benefits Competitive salary Incentive pay Banking benefits A benefits program Defined benefit pension plan An employee share purchase plan A vacation offering Wellbeing support MomentMakers, our social, points-based recognition program Purpose Day; a paid day off dedicated for you to use to invest in your growth and development Company Overview CIBC is a financial service company that offers business solutions.
