gpac (The #1 Recruiting Firm in the Nation) is partnering with a nationally respected litigation firm to identify an experienced Appellate & Motion Practice Attorney to support complex litigation and appellate matters across multiple jurisdictions. Position: Appellate & Motion Practice Attorney About The Role This role is designed for a highly skilled legal writer and strategist with deep experience in appellate briefing, complex motion practice, and legal analysis. The attorney will work closely with litigation teams to support matters across the firm's footprint, collaborating on high-impact filings, appeals, and dispositive motions. This position offers flexible and hybrid work options, with a collaborative, partner-accessible environment and a strong emphasis on professional development and work-life balance. Responsibilities • Draft and edit appellate briefs, motions, memoranda of law, and substantive filings • Conduct comprehensive legal research and develop persuasive legal arguments • Review trial records, transcripts, and evidentiary materials to identify appealable issues • Prepare dispositive motions including motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions • Support trial teams with pre-trial, post-trial, and strategic motion practice • Manage appellate deadlines, calendars, and procedural requirements • Participate in oral argument preparation and support appellate proceedings • Maintain strong client communication and adherence to client guidelines • Accurately track and record billable time (1900 requirement) Qualifications • Licensed in New York (required) • Admission in CT, NJ, or PA is a plus • 5+ years of experience in appellate work, motion practice, or complex litigation support • Federal and appellate court experience strongly preferred • Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills • Experience drafting substantive briefs and responding to complex legal issues • Trial or litigation support experience is a plus Compensation & Benefits • NYC Salary DOE • Salary commensurate with experience outside NYC • Comprehensive benefits including: • Medical, life, short-term & long-term disability • 401(k) • Paid time off • Remote or hybrid work Interested?
