Job Description: The Film, Media & Communication Department at Mount Saint Mary's University's is searching for an accomplished screenwriter/educator with extensive professional experience to join our faculty. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits. The appointment would begin Fall 2024. Degree and Teaching Experience: Interested applicants should have a terminal degree in Screenwriting and a minimum of three plus (3+) years of university level teaching experience. A successful candidate should have experience working in the industry (Hollywood, Independent, or International) and should have significant credits/experience in writing and development on at least two of the following platforms: Domestic and/or global feature films Cable and/or network television series Streaming and/or new media The successful hire will teach courses in Screenwriting with a focus on developing and writing long form feature scripts and/or a focus on writing hour-long TV pilots. They will also coordinate and manage our new MFA Screenwriting Degree (a joint degree with the Creative Writing Program) along with screenwriting focused concentrations and emphasis across our undergraduate and graduate programs in the Film Department. Hiring Annual Salary range: $66,560- $68,560 Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description. Requirements: The following skill sets are highly desirable for the position: Adaptation of existing intellectual property to both film and television formats. Management and collaborative development with new talent and seasoned writers. VR/Video-game writing and other interactive/new media formats. The successful hire will be expected to maintain a high level of professional teaching and engage in the transition of students into the entertainment industry. They should have connections to studios for student placement and the ability to recruit mentors while participating in the development of a professional transition program. They will also be expected to serve on university committees and as an academic advisor. In addition, service to the university and the department is expected in accordance with standards in the department and faculty handbook.
