The California Department of Conservation is dedicated to balancing public safety, environmental protection, and economic needs. They are seeking an Associate Oil and Gas Engineer to perform technical evaluations and reviews related to oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with state regulations and technical standards. Responsibilities Independently perform Underground Injection Control (UIC) review and monitoring, notice of intention (NOI) application review and related engineering work specifically addressing the Senate Bill 1137 (Gonzalez, Chapter 365, Statutes of 2022) within an area unit in the Division’s Central District office Perform assignments that require a high degree of knowledge and skill in hydrocarbon technology, team leadership, communication, data management, presentation and engineering work, including operations, production, and oil field practice Perform technical evaluation of proposed oil and gas projects, well operations, and prepare permits documenting technical requirements for operations Conduct complex studies of operations and reservoirs; make complex calculations, such as oil and gas reserve calculations; prepare and interpret complex technical data, maps, and statistics; and write reports on investigations Monitor and investigate the legality and advisability of proposed operations, prepare technical and legal directives, and advise operators of preventative or corrective actions Perform extensive reviews of well files, projects, notices, field operations and other related duties and provide technical guidance to field engineering staff Skills This position is subject to the Department's Conflict of Interest Code This position requires a valid Driver's License Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov.
