Backend Engineer- Console Team

There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram Opportunity: The Console team owns authorization, usage, and billing for Deepgram’s voice APIs and manages self-service payments for our pay-as-you-go and growth plans. In this backend role, you’ll build APIs for end-users to manage their projects, APIs for the developer console and API playground, and internal APIs for managing contracts. Recent launches include support for voice agent pricing, token-based authentication, and our billing breakdown endpoint, which powers charts in the developer console. We’re a full-stack team that values high-quality, iterative delivery and thoughtful code design. We care deeply about schema design, database performance, and the long-term maintainability of our systems. We use Rust for its strong type system, memory safety, and ability to deliver reliable, high-performance services without sacrificing development speed. What You’ll Do Design, develop, deploy, and monitor backend services using Rust, Nomad, and PostgreSQL Develop deep expertise in a few areas while remaining comfortable diving into new parts of the codebase Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, fostering a culture of clarity, curiosity, and shared ownership Translate high-level product requirements into parallelizable, incrementally releasable tasks Balance short-term deliverables with long-term investments in efficiency, scalability, and performance It’s Important To Us That You Have 3+ years of experience on a full-stack or backend team Professional experience with statically typed, memory-safe languages (e.g., Go, Rust, C++) Experience optimizing database performance through efficient schema design, query optimization, and indexing strategies Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate technical tradeoffs collaboratively It Would Be Great if You Had Experience with Rust Previous work in high transaction services like message queue systems or billing systems Prior experience with voice technology and AI-driven applications Backed by prominent investors including Y Combinator, Madrona, Tiger Global, Wing VC and NVIDIA, Deepgram has raised over $85 million in total funding.
