As a Boys Basketball 7th Grade Assistant Coach, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of our students and helping them develop essential skills, both on and off the court. Job Summary We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Boys Basketball 7th Grade Assistant Coach to support the development of our student athletes. As an assistant coach, you will work closely with the head coach to plan and implement practice sessions, teach the fundamentals of basketball, and promote a positive team culture. Key Responsibilities Assist with planning and implementing regularly scheduled practice sessions and activities designed to maximize the skill level of individual athletes Teach the fundamentals of basketball and promote personal characteristics required by the demands of the sport Interact with building and district administration to schedule competitive activities within district and state guidelines Ensure the welfare and safety of athletes during practice, competition, and travel Attend safety and legal workshops sponsored by the district, including CPR and first aid training Represent the program and school district in a positive manner to the press and public entities Comply with all rules and regulations of the IHSAA, State Board of Education, and Board of Trustees for School District 251 Attend meetings and serve on committees as requested by the Building Administrator and Head Coach Maintain high standards and promote ethical conduct and confidentiality Perform other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications: Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate or certification by the ASEP or NFICEP Ability to work with staff, students, and the public Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Preferred qualifications include: Coaching experience, particularly in basketball Familiarity with IHSAA rules and regulations Experience working with students at the 7th-grade level Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to maintain a positive and supportive team culture Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a member of the Jefferson School District 251 team, you will have access to ongoing professional development opportunities, including coaching workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs.
