Summary ATI is currently looking for a Business Development Manager for our New Britain, CT facility. A successful Business Development Manager will seek out and/or analyze growth opportunities to reveal market potential and assist the Business Development Director in developing a strategy for targeted business growth for ATI’s metal additive manufacturing parts business. The ideal candidate will: quickly identify bolthires customers, user value propositions, market niches, and competitive landscape to refine the sales and marketing message; Actively develop and utilize a network of aerospace and defense industry contacts to generate customer leads; Be energized by “cold calling” new customers to support the targeted growth strategy; and Lead and participate in customer visits to understand and validate real customer challenges. A Business Development Manager for Additive Metal Parts will quickly grasp ATI’s processes and business culture, learn our products and R&D capabilities, and exhibit a self-starter attitude in identifying and capturing business opportunities. Essential Skills • Identify, forecast, and meet (or exceed) ATI additive manufacturing parts sales revenue growth of 5% YOY * Manage a sales funnel. Provide input to the monthly business review. • Stay accountable to growing both the customer base and the revenue from strategic targeted growth projects • Develop customer relationships by leveraging a contact network and cold calling. Make sales calls and build relationships with key customers. • Coordinate cross-functional input from engineering, quality, marketing, and operations in identifying needs and quoting new business opportunities. • Assist in development of annual forecasts and the plans/strategies to achieve company objectives. When appropriate, drive these strategic initiatives into new markets. • Develop plans to grow market share / penetration of aerospace and defense primes. • Support ATI market sector teams and other ATI business unit initiatives, including attending and/or coordinating conferences or symposiums. • Manage key customer account problems and resolutions. Provide data and reports to customers as needed. • Manage new customer development projects, including product offerings and recommended pricing levels. • Provide the company with new product ideas, market trends, area market data, sales growth strategies, and competitive intelligence. Participate on new product development, marketing, and sales teams as required. • Support business justification for AM part capacity expansions and new capital expenditures to support business growth • Continually develop personal sales skills via self-development. • Communicate progress updates to management, colleagues, and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations Requirements Basic Requirements • A Bachelors degree • A minimum of 5 years of direct customer contact in aerospace or heavy industrial field sales Preferred • Demonstrated knowledge of additive manufacturing/3D printing and/or high tolerance machined components is preferred • Knowledge of aerospace alloys and/or powder metals and how they are manufactured is preferred Essential Skills • Ability to negotiate commercial deals • Ability to understand and explain technical processes to educate customers, suppliers, and management • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization • Excellent formal presentation skills, must be comfortable presenting to customers and executive management • Proficient in bolthires Office applications • Highly self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects, assignments, and competing priorities with minimal supervision • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills. • Able to be flexible to daily changes and adapt within a dynamic, start-up culture and technology, while working in a small team environment. • Quickly learn technical details of various additive manufacturing technologies, materials, applications, and continuously learn about the latest technology advancements to serve as a subject matter expert for ATI. • High level of accountability to follow up and follow through on action items and customer commitments, with a customer service focused mentality. • Must be enthusiastic and excited about tackling challenges and comfortable with ambiguity and change that accompanies working in an emerging technology and market. • Must already have, or be able to obtain with company sponsorship, a security clearance for government work. WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS • Ability to work remotely outside of a traditional office environment. • Ability to move within an office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions. • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person. • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use. • Ability to lift 50lbs across a 10ft room. • Anticipated domestic travel 50% to 75% depending on home office location.
