The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking a Business Taxes Specialist I to conduct complex licensing inspections and manage non-compliance citations. The role involves preparing reports, monitoring fraud schemes, and coordinating with other governmental agencies, while also requiring overnight travel throughout the state. Responsibilities Independently conducts the most difficult and complex licensing inspections Issues non-compliance citations Monitors and follows courtroom disposition of citations issued Conducts administrative seizures and appears in court proceedings Prepares appropriate inspection and seizure reports Conducts field observations Assists in identifying interrelated fraud schemes Coordinates efforts with other governmental agencies Skills This employer participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.; for more information about E-Verify, please go to www.dhs.gov/e-verify Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation Travel is required up to fifty percent (50%) of the time To perform the essential duties of the position with the Inspections Bureau, staff must complete and pass PC 832 training. Successful completion of PC 832: Arrest, Search & Seizure, will be required prior to the conclusion of the probationary period and appointment into the Business Taxes Specialist I classification. Those who are unsuccessful or unable to complete the necessary training within the probationary period will not receive appointment into the position Appear as a witness and arrange for the appearance of witnesses to present testimony in administrative hearings and criminal actions Have a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA, or Are current or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years as defined in Government Code 18990, or Are current or former non-elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2 or more consecutive years as defined in Govt. Code 18992, or Are persons retired from the United States military honorably discharged from active duty with a service disability or honorably discharged from active duty as defined in Government Code 18991.
