Civil Engineer (General)
Commonwealth of PA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Civil Engineer to join their team in the Department of Environmental Protection. The role involves conducting civil engineering assessments, reviewing permit applications for mining activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in Pennsylvania's bituminous region. Responsibilities Conduct civil engineering assessments Review permit applications for underground bituminous coal mining, coal preparation plants, and coal refuse disposal facilities Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for coal refuse, coal preparation, and underground mining activities Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the approval or denial of surface activities associated with mining operations Effectively manage the permitting workload Review designs for comprehensive civil and environmental engineering projects Set engineering and design requirements Create submission formats for applications Develop innovative solutions for surface water management in mining contexts Skills Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline This position requires possession of a valid driver's license You must meet the PA residency requirement You must be able to perform essential job functions Benefits Health coverage, vision, dental, and wellness programs.
