Compliance Analyst (Remote, Nights and Weekends)
Description • Own the end-to-end monitoring of customer transactions during nights and weekends, ensuring every trade, deposit, withdrawal, and on-chain movement complies with global AML, sanctions, and consumer-protection regulations. • Build and refine rule-based and behavioral-detection models that spot suspicious patterns in real time; tune thresholds, test scenarios, and push updates that reduce false positives while catching genuine risk. • Investigate and document escalated alerts within tight SLA windows (often <30 minutes), producing concise yet thorough case files that regulators, auditors, and law-enforcement partners can rely on. • Partner with Engineering to integrate new data feeds (blockchain explorers, fiat rails, third-party KYC vendors) into our compliance stack, translating regulatory jargon into clear technical specs that ship quickly. • Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend incident response—when a high-risk jurisdiction issues new guidance or a DeFi protocol is exploited, you triage impact, brief leadership, and implement controls before markets reopen. • Design and deliver monthly training sessions for Customer Support and Product teams, turning complex compliance topics into actionable playbooks that empower non-experts to spot red flags early. • Maintain an always-current risk register that maps emerging threats (mixers, privacy coins, NFT wash trading) to concrete mitigation steps, ensuring Accrue stays ahead of both bad actors and evolving regulations. • Produce executive dashboards that translate compliance metrics (SAR filing rate, alert-to-resolution time, regulatory exam findings) into clear narratives that guide strategic decisions and board-level discussions. • Collaborate with Legal to interpret new rules from FinCEN, FATF, MAS, and the EU; translate guidance into policy updates, system changes, and customer communications that go live without disrupting trading volumes. • Champion a culture of compliance-by-design: review product specs, marketing copy, and partnership agreements to surface regulatory risks before code is shipped or campaigns are launched. • Lead quarterly tabletop exercises that simulate sanctions-screening failures, data breaches, or regulatory inquiries, ensuring every stakeholder knows their role and our response playbooks actually work under pressure. • Mentor junior analysts across time zones, providing real-time feedback on investigations, writing style, and regulatory interpretation so the entire team levels up continuously. • Track KPIs that matter—alert quality, case closure rate, regulatory feedback score—and iterate relentlessly to push each metric into the top decile of industry benchmarks. • Represent Accrue in industry working groups and public-private partnerships, sharing anonymized insights that shape future regulations while keeping our brand synonymous with trust and transparency. Requirements • 2+ years of hands-on experience in AML, sanctions, or financial-crime compliance within fintech, crypto, or traditional banking. • Proficiency with blockchain analytics tools (Chainalysis, TRM, Elliptic) and SQL for querying large transaction datasets. • Ability to work full-time night and weekend shifts (US Eastern evenings through early morning) in a fully remote setting. • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Criminal Justice, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience. • CAMS, CFCS, or ICA certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months). ️ Benefits • Competitive base salary plus equity in a high-growth Web3 startup. • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents. • 401(k) with 3% company contribution, no vesting period. • Generous PTO policy that actually encourages you to unplug, plus quarterly mental-health days.
