You will work on rapid prototyping as well as longer-term AI/ML initiatives, particularly involving large language models (LLMs) and transformer-based architecture. You will support the development and deployment of machine learning solutions by building and managing robust data and ML pipelines. This role bridges data science, data engineering, ML readiness, and system infrastructure — ideal for someone who thrives in both backend data workflows and production-oriented ML systems. The Data Scientist also works with database administrators and the data analytics team to ensure data can be extracted efficiently. This role will assist all lines of business and will be collaborating with subject matter experts from departments across the enterprise. Primary Responsibilities: • Act as the team’s data expert and primary contact; document data sources, structures, and usage. • Design and implement scalable database solutions, data models, and data flows; ensure compliance with internal and external standards. • Extract, integrate, and analyze data from diverse sources (e.g., public datasets, relational databases, NoSQL, Splunk) to support research, business analytics, and AI/ML initiatives. • Ensure data quality and AI/ML readiness through preprocessing, validation, and optimization techniques. • Develop and maintain production-grade data pipelines to support model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring. • Collaborate cross-functionally with ML scientists, architects, stakeholders, and business units to identify opportunities and deliver data-driven solutions. • Support database audits, data governance, and migration from legacy systems as needed. • Prepare analytical reports for leadership, offering insights and recommendations based on data interpretation. • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and assess their relevance to business goals and operational improvements. Required Qualifications/Competencies: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Data Science or another similar quantitative field. Additional experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. • 9 years of relevant experience • Strong knowledge in R, Python, Statistical Analysis, Modeling, LLMs etc. • Experience in NLP, recommendation systems, or predictive analytics • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS). • Solid knowledge of database structure systems and data mining • Solid knowledge in SQL, Oracle, and MS SQL Server • Understanding of various relational and non-relational database technologies and design • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills • Effective time management and operates with a sense of urgency • Strong written and verbal communication skills Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses) Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with healthcare/medical data • Hand-on experience with Agentic AI • Background in ML Ops or production ML systems About Leidos QTC Health Services Leidos QTC Health Services collaborates closely with government and non-government customers to address current and future program needs within the health services domain.
