Responsibilities • Prepare and submit dental insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes to ensure precise reimbursement. • Review medical records and dental charts to verify the accuracy of procedures and diagnoses before billing. • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including appeals and resubmissions. • Maintain comprehensive and organized medical billing records within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. • Collaborate with dental office staff to ensure all patient information, including medical terminology and records, is accurate and up-to-date. • Stay current with changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure compliance. • Assist in resolving billing discrepancies by analyzing medical records, coding errors, or documentation issues promptly. Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing within a dental or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of dental-specific procedures and coding practices. • Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for billing and record-keeping purposes. • Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. • Familiarity with insurance claim submission processes and medical collection procedures. • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently. • Ability to interpret medical records accurately and communicate effectively with insurance companies and patients. • Prior experience working with medical records management and understanding of healthcare compliance standards.
