Refugees International is seeking a dynamic and innovative Digital Communications Officer to elevate their digital presence and help advance their mission. The role involves developing creative digital content, managing social media, and supporting organizational campaigns to engage and influence stakeholders across various platforms. Responsibilities Develop creative digital communications assets that help advance Refugees International’s work and grow out reach, engagement, and influence across digital platforms (including Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and emerging channels) Produce and edit multimedia content (including graphics, short videos, reels, carousels, and educational explainers) optimized for digital and social platforms Collaborate closely with colleagues to identify timely moments, messages, and content that can advance organizational campaigns and priorities Maintain a social media content calendar, ensuring a consistent, strategic, and responsive publishing cadence Support digital campaigns, rapid-response moments, and major organizational initiatives Support on PDF and digital layout of Refugees International’s long form content, web publishing, and email marketing Monitor trends, platform changes, and best practices to continuously innovate and improve performance Uphold Refugees International’s values and voice while centering dignity, accuracy, and ethical storytelling Skills Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong sense of narrative and audience Demonstrated experience creating high-performing social media content, particularly visual, audio, and video-based storytelling Proficiency with design and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut, or similar) Innovative and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in fast-moving environments Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and analytics Ability to distill complex policy or humanitarian issues into accessible and compelling content Highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable working across teams and disciplines Strong commitment to Refugees International's mission and to values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging Must be eligible to work in the United States Candidates with lived experience of forced displacement are encouraged to apply Company Overview Refugees International advocates for lifesaving assistance It was founded in 1979, and is headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia, USA, with a workforce of 11-50 employees.
