Director, Alternatives Fund Accounting
About the position The GAAPS Alts Director - Public-Private Fund CFO role at BlackRock involves overseeing the accounting, reporting, and operations of the firm's evergreen private fund offerings, particularly in real estate and infrastructure investment strategies. The position requires a seasoned finance and accounting executive to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective management of financial operations within a dynamic investment environment. Responsibilities • Oversee the accurate and timely close of accounting books and records for the portfolio and fund each month-end. • Manage all financial reporting, including SEC filings and related disclosures, as well as management reporting. • Prepare and deliver quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors and investors. • Conduct cash and income analyses and forecasting. • Calculate and track management and incentive fees, including projections. • Perform periodic compliance reporting. • Design and implement SOX compliance processes and conduct ongoing internal control testing. • Liaise with administrators, custodians, transfer agents, and other outside vendors to facilitate daily business activities. • Determine dividend amounts and oversee calculations and payments. • Prepare and monitor tax compliance tests, borrowing base calculations, asset coverage tests, and liquidity tests. • Manage liquidity and oversee credit facilities. • Manage service providers. Requirements • BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field; MBA is a plus. • Minimum of 15+ years of related experience, preferably with a public-reporting entity or a 'Big 4' public accounting firm. • Extensive experience in accounting, administration, financial control, or audit function for private funds, including SEC filing experience. • Strong accounting skills, including knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement presentation; CPA preferred. • Thorough knowledge of internal controls related to public filers and SOX implementation experience. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. • Executive-level verbal and written communication skills, including experience interacting with Boards, investors, service providers, and lending agents. • Ability to facilitate process integration and improvements. • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills, including multitasking ability. • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel; knowledge of the investment company industry is a plus.
