Director of Athletics Communications
Williams College seeks a passionate and strategic Director of Athletics Communications to drive engagement and excitement for our Athletics program, connect with our vibrant community, and shape the narrative of our 32 varsity teams as well as our physical education and recreational programs. This is a full-time, year round position, reporting to the Director of Athletics and collaborating closely with the College's Communications Office. As the Director of Athletics Communications, you will develop and execute dynamic communications strategies, maximize our digital presence (website, social media), provide game day oversight and operations support, and serve as the voice of Ephs Athletics to campus, families, alumni, recruits, the media (NESCAC, NCAA). Responsibilities: Be a key member of the Athletics senior leadership, guiding communications strategy and managing a talented team (including an Assistant Director and student staff). Forge strong partnerships with the College Communications, Alumni Relations, and Development offices to weave athletics into the broader Williams story and support fundraising. Oversee compelling content creation (stories, releases, social media), website management (ephsports.williams.edu), and cutting-edge communication methods. Coordinate and execute, along with the assistant director and students, live stats, professional webcasts, post- competition releases, and media operations for all competitions. Serve as the primary media contact and College representative with the NESCAC and NCAA. Provide oversight on game days for statistics, streaming, scorekeeping, and training & supervising student workers. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required. 5 or more years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, sports management or similar field, with some direct experience in Athletics communications is required. Proven leadership and management skills. Expertise in and strong understanding of content management systems, such as Sidearm, Presto, etc. Experience and expertise in various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram and Youtube. Experience with graphics software, such as Canva and Boxout Sports. Expertise and experience in using athletic statistical programs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated success at building collaborative relationships and meaningful interactions with various stakeholders such as: coaches, department staff, student-athletes, administrators, faculty, campus partners, alumni, and community members. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including frequent evenings and weekends to support events, and under the pressure of very tight deadlines Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in sensitive situations and work effectively in a fast-paced and complex work environment Highly Preferred Qualifications: Ability to produce or oversee the production of video highlights or messaging Ability to analyze reports from digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Sprout Social, and/or Meta Business Suite to track data and produce reports that are easily understood by a variety of stakeholders Working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules Application review will begin on January 12, 2026.
