Director of Retail Operations & Process Improvement

Remote, USA Full-time
WHY JOIN ALO? Mindful movement. It's at the core of why we do what we do at ALO—it's our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That's the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life. OVERVIEW This role exists to make store operations frictionless and scalable by aligning people, process, and technology to drive consistent, efficient, and future-ready execution. As the architect of our operating system for stores, you will design and evolve daily and weekly routines, optimize labor alignment, and ensure operational processes are simple, efficient, and globally adaptable. Operating at a global level, this leader develops scalable solutions that serve as the baseline for international expansion, adaptable for local business models and nuances. Success is measured through improvements in operational KPIs including inventory accuracy, shrink, replenishment rates, omni short-ship rate, and labor spend — all while creating an environment where store teams can focus on delivering extraordinary guest experiences. RESPONSIBILITIES Operating Model Architecture • Design and maintain the blueprint of store operating routines — day-to-day and weekly — tailored to store size, volume, and staffing models. • Partner with Workforce Management to align routines with labor models and scheduling tools. • Anticipate peak execution challenges (holiday, promotional cadence) and adapt labor models accordingly. • Lead global lift-and-shift assessments, ensuring operating models are scalable and repeatable, with local adaptations for international markets. Process & Technology Innovation • Own the Retail Technology & Process Improvement Roadmap, aligning leadership, ops teams, and cross-functional partners (Retail Tech Ops, Engineering, Digital). • Capture and prioritize process and technology opportunities via field feedback, KPI analysis, and store immersion. • Partner with International Operations to identify alternative solutions that enable new countries, store concepts, and business models. • Build business cases, define requirements, and oversee launches of new tools, systems, and processes. • Oversee continuous improvement of Operations Dashboards to ensure actionable insights are at the fingertips of Retail Ops teams. • Stay closely connected to emerging retail tech innovations and evaluate applicability for Alo. Operational Execution & Continuous Improvement • Partner with HQ and Field Leadership to drive world-class consistency in operational performance across key KPIs: inventory accuracy, shrink, replenishment, omni fulfillment. • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, evolving policies and procedures to reduce friction and "make wrong execution impossible." • Leverage store visits, field feedback, and operational data to identify and implement efficiency gains. • Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning & Allocation, and Logistics to ensure stores are kept in-stock, well-assorted, and supported by innovative supply solutions. • Support rollout of new operating models and technologies globally, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption. Leadership & Influence • Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing team, with a focus on coaching, development, and succession planning. • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and solution-oriented problem solving across HQ and field partners. • Serve as a trusted partner to functional leaders, ensuring operational design supports cross-functional priorities and retail growth. QUALIFICATIONS • Required minimum of 10 years of experience in a headquarter-based Retail Operations function with deep experience in technology project development, process engineering, and operational rollout planning. • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Operations, or other relevant field. • Proven track record of developing, influencing, and rolling out retail tools and process changes with measured business outcomes. • Significant experience in a retail setting with key retail systems including inventory management, RFID, and omnichannel tech. • Strong ability to influence and collaborate across different levels of the organization. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling assets and presentations. • Strong organizational abilities with the ability to multi-task and pivot frequently based on business changes. • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using retail communication or task management platforms. The base salary range for this position is $165,000-$200,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company's total rewards package for exempt employees.
