Distribution Sustainment Capital Engineer in Training
ENMAX is committed to lighting the way to a brighter energy future and is seeking a Distribution Sustainment Capital Engineer-in-Training to join their team. In this learning role, you will grow your engineering skills while helping to care for the assets that keep the power system safe and reliable, involving tasks such as reviewing asset data and planning projects. Responsibilities Collect, analyze, and report distribution asset data using systems such as Maximo, Engin, GIS, SCADA, OMS, Power BI, and long-term plans Support decision-making on asset strategies (repair, replace, monitor, abandon) Assist senior engineers with program ideation, scoping, justification, and project initiation Develop short-term (1 year) and long-term (3–10 year) plans for assigned programs Prepare need justification and develop business cases for asset programs; defend cases with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (e.g., AUC) Contribute to asset management plans, process maps, and business documentation; ensure compliance with safety and integrity standards Participate in cross-functional teams to advance capital projects Track, resolve, and close hazards Ensure accurate asset data throughout the lifecycle and address information gaps with asset analytics Conduct field visits as required Support leaders with additional duties to advance business objectives Skills Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) 0-4 years of experience with directly applicable experience Sound engineering and operational knowledge of distribution utility systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication, both written and verbal Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment Adaptable and able to embrace change Takes initiative Demonstrates willingness to learn from senior engineers Must be legal to work in Canada and requires the successful completion of a criminal background check Two pieces of valid Government issued ID will be required Two professional references will be requested Education requirements for this position will be verified by a third party Applicants will be required to provide a current driver's abstract (those with more than 6 demerits will not be considered) and must be able to meet ENMAX's insurance requirements Benefits Comprehensive flexible benefits program Free onsite fitness facility Onsite massage Onsite child care centre (upon availability, offered from our ENMAX Place location 141 – 50 Ave. SE) Free parking Company Overview ENMAX makes, moves, and sells electricity to residential, small business and large commercial customers.
