Ecommerce Analytics & Automation Specialist – Shopify, Profit, P&L Dashboards

We are looking for an experienced ecommerce analytics and automation specialist to build a fully automated profit & P&L reporting system that supports hands-off operations and clean CPA handoff. This is not a basic Shopify VA or reporting task. We need someone who understands ecommerce financial logic, COGS, refunds, and automation. This project may lead to ongoing work if done well. Scope of Work (Core Deliverables) 1) Central Data Layer Build a stable backend using: Shopify order, refund, discount, and fee data Supplier cost data (Eprolo + CSV/API-based suppliers) SKU-level cost tracking with effective date versioning Clear handling of: Partial refunds Full refunds Store credit vs cash refunds Shipping charged vs shipping paid Payment processing fees (logic-based) Preferred tools: Google Sheets (as normalized data hub) Shopify API or scheduled exports Automation via Make.com (or similar) 2) Operations / Owner Dashboard (Looker Studio) Create a high-level decision dashboard for the business owner that includes: KPIs Revenue Gross profit Net profit (estimated) Margin % Orders AOV Views Daily / weekly / monthly trends Top products by profit (not just revenue) Refund rate trends Supplier performance Alerts (via Make.com or email/Slack) Margin below defined threshold Refund rate spike Negative-margin SKU Supplier cost changes This dashboard must be: Stable year-round Fully automated No bank feeds Minimal maintenance 3) CPA / Finance Dashboard (Separate View) Create a second Looker Studio dashboard using the same backend, designed specifically for CPA use: Includes: Net sales (after discounts & refunds) COGS by SKU and supplier Shipping costs Payment fees (documented logic) Monthly P&L structure Order-level export capability This dashboard should be: Read-only Conservative and traceable Reproducible month-over-month Clearly documented 4) Documentation (Required) Provide: 1–2 page metric definitions document Explanation of profit calculations Explanation of what is estimated vs exact Instructions for basic maintenance / handoff to VA or CPA Requirements (Read Carefully) You must have experience with: Shopify analytics & APIs Ecommerce COGS & profit modeling Refund logic (partial/full/store credit) Google Sheets (advanced formulas) Looker Studio (or equivalent BI tool) Automation tools (Make.com, Zapier, etc.) Not a fit if you are: A general Shopify VA A basic data analyst without ecommerce finance experience Someone who builds dashboards without understanding profit logic Project Details Timeline: 5–10 days Budget: Open (expecting a fair market rate for quality work) Communication: Clear milestones and check-ins preferred Future Work: High likelihood if project is successful To Apply, Please Include: Brief description of similar ecommerce dashboards you’ve built Tools you recommend for this project and why How you handle COGS, refunds, and partial refunds Confirmation you’ve worked with Shopify + profit/P&L reporting Final Note We are intentionally building this once, correctly, to scale cleanly without rebuilding later.
