JOB DESCRIPTION: Welocalize is seeking a Maps Quality Tester with a background in GIS or previous maps experience. In this exciting role, you will be working at a leading consumer technology company as a contributor to the finished products released in target markets across the globe. The ideal candidate is a brilliant problem solver, quick study, self-starter, and excellent communicator with a passion for shipping quality products. The ability to think on your feet and to deliver results in a fast-paced environment is a must. If you’re an avid cyclist who tracks your performance across different routes, that is considered relevant experience and a strong plus! Our testers will work closely with the development team to ensure the client organization ships the highest quality application. The candidate should possess the ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex matters into clean, understandable reports. The candidate must also be an effective diplomat with strong communication and organizational skills, who is willing to prove him or herself within a company of talented individuals. Requirements: Austin-based (but you'll be working remotely!) Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (Geography, Cartography, or related field preferred) Ability to explain technical details in clear and concise reports Organised and self-sufficient, able to work remotely without direct supervision Creative thinker and able to understand the product from the user's perspective Be polite and courteous. Have experience with iOS devices and be technologically savvy. Familiarity with using mobile devices for driving navigation e.g. Apple Maps, Google Maps Experience working with data and spreadsheets Good written and spoken English Working knowledge of maps and web-based mapping products Proficient in using iOS and MacOS (desirable) Preferred: Experience cycling. Experience programming.
