Job Summary The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate is a vital member of our team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our facilities. This role is not just about cleaning; it's about contributing to the healing process, preventing the spread of infections, and providing a comfortable and safe environment for everyone. As an EVS Associate, you will be working full-time in the evenings, with the flexibility of a remote work arrangement, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively. Key Responsibilities Maintaining a Clean and Safe Environment: Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas according to schedules and specific methods to ensure a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment. Biohazard Disposal: Properly dispose of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations, ensuring the safe handling of environmental contaminants. Equipment and Supply Management: Maintain equipment, clean carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets to give the hospital a professional appearance. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Compliance: Comply with established PPE requirements to protect against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and other hazardous substances. Floor Care: Complete and maintain all carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures. Safety Precautions: Observe safety precautions when pushing equipment and report any faulty mechanical, structural, or electrical problems. Customer Service: Engage with patients and visitors using scripting to establish dialogue and extend every possible courtesy, demonstrating high standards of conduct. Additional Tasks: Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set-ups as requested, and respond to pages or phone calls in a timely manner. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Qualifications High School Graduate or equivalent preferred. 6 months to 1 year of experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required. Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and infection control practices. Skills and Competencies Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Physical stamina to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
