Estimator/AVCAD Drafter - Audiovisual Construction

We are looking for a detail-oriented Estimator/AVCAD Drafter to join our audiovisual construction team. This role is responsible for producing accurate AV system drawings and providing precise cost estimates for new construction projects mainly in the K–12 education market. The CAD Drafter/Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, and general contractors to ensure project bids, submittals, and construction documents are complete and accurate. You will also need to be able to work independently and be able to think critically in order to solve complex problems. Role Responsibilities • Prepare detailed AV-CAD drawings, floor plans, riser diagrams, and elevations for audiovisual system installations. • Review construction documents, architectural drawings, and specifications to determine AV scope of work. • Develop material takeoffs, labor estimates, and cost proposals for bid submissions. • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to refine designs and ensure constructability. • Coordinate with general contractors and other subcontractors to align AV scope with overall project requirements. • Assist in the preparation of submittal packages, shop drawings, and as-built documentation. • Maintain and update AV-CAD standards, templates, and drawing libraries for consistency and efficiency. • Track bid opportunities, pricing, and vendor quotes to support accurate estimating. • Provide technical input during pre-construction meetings and project hand-offs. • Support field teams with drawing revisions and clarification as projects progress. • Continuing education to stay up to date on new integrated technologies. Qualifications • Associate’s degree or technical training in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field. • 1-3+ years of AVCAD drafting and estimating experience, preferably in audiovisual, low-voltage, or electrical trades. • Proficiency in AVCAD (Revit or Bluebeam experience a plus). • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and technology drawings. • Knowledge of audiovisual systems, components, and installation practices preferred. • Strong math and analytical skills for accurate cost estimating. • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Trustworthy • CTS-D Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
