Ethics Unit - Deputy Attorney General
The California Department of Justice is the State’s top legal authority, dedicated to protecting the interests of California residents. The Deputy Attorney General in the Ethics Unit will advise on laws and regulations regarding ethics, conflicts of interest, and professional responsibility within the Department of Justice. Responsibilities Advise the Department and its clients on California laws, regulations, and standards governing financial and non-financial conflicts of interest, government ethics, misuse of public funds, open meetings, professional responsibility, and related topics Become an expert on the Political Reform Act, Government Code section 1090, the California Rules of Professional Responsibility, the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act, the Department’s internal ethics standards, and related laws and regulations Skills Prior government ethics experience is a strong plus for this position Attorneys who demonstrate the potential to succeed in an ethics practice are also encouraged to apply for this position Ethics attorneys are expected to become experts on the Political Reform Act, Government Code section 1090, the California Rules of Professional Responsibility, the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act, the Department's internal ethics standards, and related laws and regulations Benefits Work-life balance 11 paid holidays Flexible paid leave options Consistent wage increases Pension retirement Job stability Health/Dental/Vision Insurance Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and more!
