Experienced Academic Writing Consultant for Student Employment - Remote Opportunity to Make a Difference in Education

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Writing Consultant - Student Employment to join our team in the Learning Center. As a Writing Consultant, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the academic success of our students by providing one-on-one writing assistance, both in-person and online, across a broad range of academic disciplines and abilities. Key Responsibilities and Expectations In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to students at all levels of writing competency, including but not limited to: Brainstorming and idea development Organization and structure of written work Research and citation guidance Outlining and drafting Grammar, punctuation, and style improvement Collaborating with professors to provide special writing assistance to their classes and promoting writing services to students Additionally, you will be expected to maintain accurate appointment records, complete written reports of each session in WCOnline, and participate in mandatory training meetings and ongoing professional development. You will also assist in developing instructional materials, creating promotional materials, and completing general administrative duties as necessary. Essential Qualifications for the Position To be considered for this role, you must: Demonstrate significant writing ability and advanced communication skills, as evidenced by a former professor or an academic writing sample Be a current Saint Xavier University student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have successfully completed ENGL 120 or ENG 220 Possess analytical and advanced communication skills to evaluate and articulate suggestions for writing improvement Be proficient in technology, including scheduling, online consultations, and research/documentation tools Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with peers from diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds Demonstrate a strong commitment to helping peers become more effective writers and be able to work independently and take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable: Previous experience in tutoring or teaching writing Familiarity with WCOnline or similar scheduling and reporting software Knowledge of various citation styles and formatting guidelines Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities Strong organizational and time management skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Writing Consultant at Saint Xavier University, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in writing instruction, tutoring, and academic support.
