Job Overview and Key Responsibilities In this entry-level position, you will be responsible for a range of tasks that require physical effort, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Your daily tasks will include safely lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft, as well as guiding incoming and departing aircraft from gate positions. You will also be responsible for safeguarding cargo, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather, and operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in areas of congestion. Some of your key responsibilities will include: Safely lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft Safeguarding cargo, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather Operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in areas of congestion Operating baggage scanners and computers to ensure baggage is routed accurately to the customer's destination Providing exceptional customer service to our clients and responding to their queries and concerns Scheduling and Work Environment As a Ramp Agent, you will work a variety of shifts, including early morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts, based on operational needs. You can expect to work between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on your seniority. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, often in harsh weather conditions, and to prioritize safety and security at all times. What You Need to Succeed To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and qualifications, including: A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency Authorization to work in the United States A valid driver's license Proficiency in English The ability to pass a physical ability test (PAT) The ability to wear required company-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) The ability to hold airport-specific requirements such as a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal You will also need to consistently prioritize safety and security, embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
