About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Elizabeth, NJ. Key Responsibilities Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students of different ages and skill levels Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure seamless continuity of education Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to think on your feet Collaborate with other educators to share best practices and improve student outcomes Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you will need: An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor A NJ Substitute Credential A background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous teaching experience, particularly in a substitute or support role Special education training or experience working with students with diverse needs Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong subject matter knowledge and the ability to teach a range of subjects Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and respectful learning environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to think on your feet and respond to changing circumstances A growth mindset, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Scoot Education, we are committed to supporting the ongoing learning and professional development of our Substitute Teachers.
