About the Role We're seeking an experienced Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic team at blithequark. As a key member of our product engineering and delivery team, you'll have the opportunity to engineer, code, and deliver programming that drives our business forward. Key Responsibilities Develop high-quality software applications using programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala Participate in code reviews and automated testing to ensure the highest standards of code quality and reliability Troubleshoot and optimize software components, identifying code defects and areas for improvement Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments Automate solutions in test or production environments to improve efficiency and scalability Scale applications based on demand projections to ensure seamless performance Lead a small team of engineers and inspire them to achieve their full potential Influence colleagues with innovative changes and enhancements by challenging the status quo and demonstrating risk-taking Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field 3+ years of experience in software development and leading teams of engineers and scrum teams 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Guide Reduce, Hive, Spark (core, SQL, and PySpark) Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and Distributed environments Proficiency in programming using Core Java or Python/Scala Expertise in Hadoop and Spark Architecture and its working principles Experience in writing and understanding complex SQL (Hive/PySpark-dataframes), optimizing joins while handling large amounts of data UNIX shell scripting skills Ability to design and develop advanced Data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing Proven ability to create and document technical and functional specifications and analyze software and system processing flows Preferred Qualifications To take your application to the next level, you'll ideally have: Knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP/AWS, building Microservices, and scalable solutions 3+ years of experience in designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or queues Experience with GitHub/Bitbucket and utilizing CI/CD pipelines Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB Excellent technical and analytical skills Strong communication and project management abilities What We Offer At blithequark, we're committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters growth and development.
