About the Role As a Lead Big Data Engineer at Target, you'll play a crucial role in designing and implementing high-performance, distributed computing tasks using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, NoSQL, and text mining. You'll be responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, troubleshooting, and modifying software enhancements, as well as developing new products used in distributed, large-scale analytics solutions. Key Responsibilities Aid in defining software architecture to ensure consistency across the organization's product solutions Participate in the decision-making process related to the selection of software architecture solutions Implement models to manage web-scale data and its integration Develop and implement systems that inform data design and architecture, collaborating with enterprise standards Create documentation to ensure consistency in development across the organization and implement core software infrastructure improvements Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and analytics templates Implement and maintain a platform that provides ad-hoc access to large datasets Translate key requirements to ensure effective solutions meet business needs Provide consultation on complex projects and review and approve specifications to ensure consistency in approach and use Serve as a technical and business-savvy resource to programming staff on a range of software design issues Perform systems and applications performance characterization and compromise studies through analysis and simulation Research upgrades in coding standards Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A long-term degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience Broad understanding of software development and design Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala, Python Experience with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Druid, etc. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams/partners to improve overall functional development of the Big Data ecosystem Broad experience in operational aspects of a complete Big Data platform, including monitoring and alerts management, availability, capacity management, and administration management A cooperative person who can partner and work collaboratively with a global team Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experience will be considered a plus: Experience with cloud-based technologies and platforms Knowledge of data science and machine learning principles Familiarity with Agile development methodologies Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail What We Offer At Target, we're committed to providing a comprehensive benefits package that includes: A competitive salary of $28/hour A flexible, hybrid remote work arrangement Opportunities for career growth and professional development A collaborative and dynamic work environment Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools Recognition and rewards for outstanding performance Company Culture At Target, we pride ourselves on our inclusive and diverse culture.
