The Role: Chief Enterprise Architect This is an exciting on-site contract opportunity for a Chief Enterprise Architect at our San Antonio, TX location. As a Chief Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for defining and implementing enterprise architecture strategies that drive business success. Your expertise will be crucial in managing technical and business architecture and overseeing solution architecture for advanced digital applications, Microsoft solutions, and Edge Computing (IoT). Key Responsibilities Platform Design and Architecture: Develop high-level platform specifications and design architecture that aligns with business needs and objectives, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Tool Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance platform engineering processes, staying abreast of industry trends and innovations. Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate platform components and ensure seamless system integration, promoting a cohesive and efficient technology ecosystem. Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and coaching to platform engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards, and fostering a culture of technical excellence. Documentation: Document architectural designs and decisions for future reference and maintenance, ensuring knowledge sharing and continuity. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with platform engineering projects, proactively addressing potential issues to ensure project success. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements and explain architectural decisions, ensuring alignment and buy-in. Essential Qualifications Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, providing a solid foundation in computer science and software engineering principles. Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in software development and architecture, with a focus on platform engineering, and 5+ years of experience as a Lead Architect or Enterprise Architect in large development projects. Technical Skills: Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure), and knowledge of microservices and event-driven architecture. Experience in developing/architecting applications in .NET/Java/Python, and familiarity with Gen AI, Cloud native development of Applications/Platforms, DevOps, and security best practices. Tool Evaluation: Proven experience in evaluating and integrating tools and technologies to improve platform engineering processes, with a keen eye for innovation and efficiency. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, outstanding communication skills, and teamwork abilities, with experience interacting with C-level executives. Preferred Qualifications Agile/SCRUM Methodologies: Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies, facilitating iterative and adaptive project management. DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, promoting a culture of continuous integration and delivery. Security Best Practices: Knowledge of security best practices in platform engineering, ensuring the development of secure and resilient systems.
