Key Responsibilities As a Customer Service Representative at blithequark, you will be responsible for handling customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner, resolving issues, and providing excellent customer service. Your key responsibilities will include: Responding to customer inquiries via telephone, fax, mail, and web-based patient portal in a timely and accurate manner Triage calls and electronically refer accounts to the appropriate area for resolution Validating and updating critical demographic and insurance data, forwarding revised information to the appropriate area Providing excellent customer service, assisting customers in navigating the blithequark organization and billing process Documenting all contacts, issues, actions taken, and results within the patient accounting system Transferring and escalating contacts as appropriate, based on standard operating procedures Communicating with physicians, office staff, Patient Access, Medical Records/Health Information Management, Utilization Review/Case Management, Managed Care, Ancillary, and Nursing staff as required Preparing special reports as directed by the Manager to document billing and follow-up services Serving as relief support or training new employees as needed Cross-training in various functions to assist in the smooth delivery of departmental services Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience Past work experience of at least one year within a healthcare environment, performing customer service, financial counseling, and/or financial clearance Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs, regulations, and billing processes (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Champus, Supplemental Security Income Disability, etc.) Excellent communication (verbal and writing) and organizational abilities Interpersonal skills necessary in dealing with internal and external customers Accuracy, attentiveness to detail, and time management skills Preferred qualifications include: Associate degree in accounting or business administration Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minute) Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, medical record coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), and multilingual skills Demonstrated call center experience with the ability to utilize voice/data equipment to fulfill customer expectations Basic computer skills and experience with patient accounting systems Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with internal and external customers Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex billing processes Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with a strong sense of honesty, integrity, and caring Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
