Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our team, with a focus on data architecture for our Information Center. The successful candidate will drive the development and maintenance of our Information Center data architecture/model, working closely with a team of data engineers to improve data modeling, data quality, and data management to support business applications. As a knowledgeable leader with a passion for using data to solve business problems, you will play a key role in shaping our data strategy and ensuring the quality and integrity of our data assets. Key Responsibilities Acts as the informed authority in blithequark business information domains or disciplines (e.g., Sales, Inventory, Promotions, etc.) Defines approved datasets for data consumption (e.g., Reporting, Data Science, APIs, etc.) Develops the enterprise data strategy and architectural guidelines for maintaining the performance, quality, data security, and compliance of approved datasets Creates integration documentation that outlines how data should flow from source systems to consumption layer (e.g., Source to Target Mappings) Supports Data Stewards in the Delivery Team(s) in capturing and documenting business metadata (e.g., definitions) Evaluates existing data architectures to improve data velocity Stays current on data industry trends for data-related technologies, models, and techniques Documents and provides recommendations resulting from data quality analysis Leads the data architecture process in collaboration with enterprise architecture Builds, promotes, and maintains conceptual, logical, and physical data models Advises the team on translating business needs into long-term architectural solutions Works with data engineering and data platform teams to lead ongoing implementation improvement by investigating and presenting new technologies Assists in defining data integration, storage, replication, and transformation protocols for the data layer of technical solutions supported by enterprise architecture Participates in the delivery of operational business performance monitoring capabilities Brainstorms ideas with database designers, data analysts, and data scientists to create new data products Mentors and coaches the data architecture team on new technologies and approaches in data engineering and architecture Essential Qualifications Solid understanding of database storage concepts (relational databases, NoSQL, etc.) Experience working with data modeling tools (erwin, PowerDesigner) Experience architecting and delivering data integration and ETL solutions Experience designing and developing high-performance data models Able to support off-hours work as required, including on-call and rotational duties Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience in data architecture with large and complex datasets 2+ years of experience working with Cloud technologies like Azure SQL DB, ADLS, Azure Databricks, Cosmos DB, and other related data technologies Skilled in architecting and creating OLTP data models to support business applications Understanding of database normalization processes Experience leading data architecture and data solutions through agile software development methodologies Familiarity with the retail industry Experience leading software development teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
