Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Center Engineer to join our team in Nevada, USA. As a Data Center Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of our data center facilities, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will work closely with our data center operations team, technical program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that our data centers are running efficiently and effectively. Key Responsibilities Ownership of all data center modifications, events, incidents, and troubles from start to finish, including overseeing the completion of post-mortems, root cause analysis, and follow-up remediation actions Ensuring maintenance and preservation of website-critical facility infrastructure or a data center are planned and executed to the best interest of the business Responsible for asset and inventory management Developing and maintaining procedure statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation Ensuring standardization and consistency with best-in-class working practices Developing a comprehensive, deep understanding of the design intent, operational options, and contingency plans associated with all data center systems Managing the engineering aspects of the data centers related to financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, staff management, workforce training and development, health and safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to have: At least 2 years of experience in data center operations and on-call support for data center facilities An undergraduate degree in a technical field (EE, Mech E, Industrial E) An excellent understanding of the nature of mission-critical systems (data centers, hospitals, power plants, military facilities, etc.) Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the wider context Previous vendor negotiation and management skills for data center and/or improve production contracts Ability to write and evaluate accurate and complete guide procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries Excellent judgment and instincts in decision-making under pressure Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environments Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a data center environment, with a strong understanding of data center operations and maintenance Knowledge of industry-standard data center management tools and technologies Experience with IT service management frameworks, such as ITIL Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Amazon, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
