Job Overview In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple data centers, ensuring the highest levels of safety, security, and efficiency. As a seasoned professional, you will lead a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance and expertise to drive success. Your expertise in data center design, operations, and management will be essential in maintaining the integrity of our infrastructure and delivering exceptional services to our customers. Key Responsibilities Act as an ambassador for safety within the team and promote safe work practices across the region Manage a team of Data Center Engineering Activity designs, including all aspects of people/performance/pivot/technical leadership Ensure effective and efficient management of daily Data Center Engineering Activities Develop and work on operational workflows and risks Act as a subject matter expert in the data centers' mechanical, electrical, and control systems Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are being measured and met Have a significant impact on the development and driving of automation Be passionate about the quality and quantity of services and continually strive to improve customer experience Manage Large Scale Events or outages, and manage on-call rotations and escalations Perform vendor management for colocation facilities Ensure the data center is compliant with all relevant security and safety policies and procedures Manage all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure Participate in-progress projects, often requiring engagement with a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion Coordinate daily with numerous third-party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures Regularly work as the night-time on-call Data Center Manager for the data centers in the region Offer support for weather events, planned outages, and unplanned outages Research and write technical documents to drive change and document lessons learned within the business Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent work experience in the Mechanical/Electrical Field 6 years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports 2 years of experience managing managers 10 years of experience working in critical infrastructure operations Preferred Qualifications A superb understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including systems like feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air-handling units, CRAC units Proven track record of people management and team development Ability to solve problems at their root, stepping back to grasp the broader context Experiences strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain SLAs through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting Ability to follow precise and complete maintenance procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries Demonstrates good judgment and instincts in decision-making Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment Proactively and continually improve your level of knowledge about blithequark's business and relevant technologies Career Growth and Development At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
