About the Role As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will play a critical role in revolutionizing entertainment and shaping the evolution of storytelling worldwide. Our Customer Service team is dedicated to providing a delightful and efficient experience for our members, and we're looking for a skilled Data Engineer to help us achieve this goal. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software engineers, and business owners, to design and develop reliable, scalable data pipelines, transform raw data into core business metrics, and work with custom visualization tools to surface valuable insights. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using big data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink Transform raw data into actionable business metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to identify and prioritize project requirements Develop and maintain custom visualization tools to surface key insights and trends in customer service data Work autonomously to resolve complex technical issues, leveraging strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills Communicate effectively with analysts, engineers, and business leaders to ensure seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: At least 4 years of experience engineering data pipelines using big data technologies on medium to large-scale data sets (10s of millions of records) Strong data modeling skills, with the ability to design adaptable structures that accommodate changes in source data or business processes Proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, supportable code Advanced SQL skills, with a strong advocacy for data quality and attention to detail Analytical aptitude, with the ability to think through complex business problems and prioritize autonomously Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP Knowledge of data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong technical skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams A strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment A passion for data-driven decision-making, with a strong understanding of the importance of data quality and accuracy Career Growth Opportunities At blithequark, we're committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
