Job Overview In this critical role, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of high-quality diagnostic images. As a Radiology Technologist, you will operate state-of-the-art equipment, including fluoroscopy, diagnostic X-ray imaging, and operating room fluoroscopy, to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines. Your expertise will be essential in delivering excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. Operate equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines. Ensure accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures and conduct image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors. Implement radiation safety guidelines and conduct proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process. Deliver excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned, including on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Working knowledge of diagnostic radiographic principles, including radiographic positioning, film/image processing, quality control, and radiation protection. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). If working in North Dakota, licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification may be required within the first eight weeks of hire into the position. Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, preferably in a radiology department. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as participate in on-call rotations. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong technical skills, with the ability to operate complex radiology equipment. Excellent patient care and communication skills, with the ability to educate patients and families on diagnostic imaging procedures. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to ensure accurate patient positioning and image quality. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
