Our Risk Finance group is a key part of our Corporate Planning (CP&A) team, responsible for planning, forecasting, and evaluating global Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. We are seeking a talented Director of Data Science to lead our Global Data Strategy group, which will focus on building and maintaining centralized reporting capabilities, implementing process enhancements and automation, and developing revolutionary data solutions to support strong forecasts and analytics for the wider Risk Finance organization. **Key Responsibilities** As our Director of Data Science – Global Data Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for leading the strategic evaluation of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance. Your key responsibilities will include: * **Leading Strategic Evaluation**: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve, and provide strategic recommendations to Senior Management in Risk and Finance. * **Data Asset Management**: Own and manage precise information assets/packages within Risk Finance, and become a subject matter expert in the applicable tools, including troubleshooting issues, reconciling results, identifying enhancements and automation opportunities, and training other customers to drive adoption. * **Developing and Maintaining Reports**: Develop and maintain preferred and ad-hoc reports used by Risk Finance and/or business partners, and provide credit-associated analytical support. * **Key Analyses and Recommendations**: Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management, using data-driven insights to inform business decisions. * **Building Relationships**: Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, and other areas. * **Providing Selection-Aid**: Provide selection-aid with a strong emphasis on growing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio, which can be used to optimize business and risk decisions. **Required Qualifications** To be successful in this role, you will need to have: * **Advanced Experience**: Advanced experience working with a combination of the following is required: SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, TM1. * **Excel and PowerPoint**: Experience working with a sophisticated degree of Excel and PowerPoint is required. * **ML Modeling**: Experience in ML modeling is a plus. * **Economic and Analytical Skills**: Solid economic and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and draw significant conclusions, empowering our business partners to make smart, data-driven decisions. * **Attention to Detail**: Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills. * **Results-Driven**: Must be results-driven and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work within tight timelines. * **Ambiguous Tasks**: Desire to work on ambiguous tasks, growing clarity while achieving successful and significant outcomes. * **Strong Work Ethic**: A strong work ethic and strong interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to build and maintain relationships and successfully collaborate with team members to achieve goals. * **Master's Degree**: A Master's degree in a quantitative or statistical discipline is required. **Considerations for Sponsorship** Depending on factors including business unit requirements, the nature of the position, value, and relevant laws, blithequark may offer visa sponsorship for certain positions. **Compensation and Benefits** The anticipated compensation range for this role is $55.00 to $85.00 hourly, plus bonus, equity (if relevant), and benefits.
