We're seeking an Experienced Early Head Start Teacher to join our team in Concord, NC, and contribute to our commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. About the Role As an Early Head Start Teacher, you'll work collaboratively with a Co-Teacher to develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans that promote social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth in infants and toddlers. You'll create a safe and nurturing environment that encourages relational learning, and work closely with families to ensure they're informed and involved in their child's development. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized and group educational plans that promote all developmental areas, improving children's readiness for preschool. Guide and facilitate daily classroom activities, field trips, and other learning experiences that foster social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Practice responsive caregiving, integrating individualized and small group activities into a flexible schedule of learning experiences. Conduct conferences and home visits with parents/caregivers to ensure they're informed about their child's progress, development, and learning. Maintain accurate records, both on paper and in designated online systems, and ensure confidentiality regarding children and families. Plan, conduct, and document observations, assessments, and screenings, maintaining a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child. Work with Program Aides and Volunteers to develop their skills and abilities in planning and carrying out classroom activities. Ensure the safety and security of children, implementing active supervision techniques and maintaining a safe playground environment. Create opportunities for parents to engage in their child's education, such as encouraging classroom involvement and home activities. Collaborate with the Manager of Education & Inclusion to develop and document progress on a professional development plan. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need: A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential, with training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development, focusing on infant and toddler development. Professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with great problem-solving and time management abilities. Knowledge of the purpose and principles of the Head Start/Early Head Start program. Ability to relate sensitively with children and maintain confidentiality. Commitment to fostering an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Clear pre-employment background check requirements, including local, state, and national criminal records check. Preferred Qualifications We're looking for candidates with: Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English and other languages used by children and families).
