As an ESP - Instructional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational journey of our students, working closely with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Job Summary The ESP - Instructional position is a part-time, school-year role that requires a strong and diverse skillset to drive success. As an ESP - Instructional, you will assist the administration with instructional tasks, working directly and indirectly with students to support their academic, social, and emotional growth. Your responsibilities will include preparing instructional materials, assisting with classroom operations, and working directly with students to develop their skills and knowledge. Key Responsibilities Prepare charts, displays, bulletin boards, and other instructional tools to support teaching and learning Assist in general classroom operational procedures, such as setting up and operating audiovisual equipment, setting up classroom equipment, and preparing and setting up art supplies Locate and organize supplementary audiovisual, print, and manipulative materials for use with individual students, small groups, or classroom instruction Work directly with students individually or in small groups on academic and motor or social skills, such as math, science, English, color recognition, decision-making, and self-esteem building Assist students and teachers in large group activities and projects, such as art, physical education, and dramatics Seek out special instructional materials to assist students with particular learning problems Type on a word processor, worksheets, tests, or various instructional materials; duplicate and assemble as needed Prepare requisition forms for lab supplies, record and maintain inventory, and correct tests via computer Record results in grade books and set up lab equipment for student use, informing students of appropriate handling and safety procedures Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred Demonstrable ability to work with children and a passion for supporting student learning and development Human Relations: Helping and serving, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Computer and word processing experience necessary, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be highly regarded: Previous experience working in an educational setting, particularly in a support role Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques to support student learning Ability to speak multiple languages, with a focus on languages spoken by our diverse student population Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and abilities Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on flexibility and adaptability Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Osseo Area Schools, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff.
