As a Flight Paramedic, you will play a critical role in providing advanced medical care to patients in emergency situations, utilizing our state-of-the-art AirMed helicopter, fixed wing, and ground vehicles. This part-time opportunity offers a unique blend of challenge, reward, and flexibility, with a competitive salary range of $23.62 - $33.00 per hour and eligibility for a new hire sign-on bonus. Key Responsibilities As a Flight Paramedic - AirMed Professional, your key responsibilities will include: Providing advanced medical care to patients in emergency situations, including trauma and medical cases, using the Sanford AirMed helicopter, fixed wing, and ground vehicles. Assessing patients' conditions, determining the nature and extent of illness or injury, and establishing priority for required emergency care. Administering emergency care and treatment, including lifesaving interventions, and determining the appropriate facility for patient transport based on their condition and the extent of their injuries. Constantly assessing patients while in route to the emergency facility, administering additional care as indicated or given by medical direction, and observing, recording, and reporting patients' conditions and treatment provided to receiving facility staff. Maintaining communication with the receiving facility to obtain medical direction and provide patient status and other critical information, as well as comforting and reassuring patients and their families while maintaining confidentiality. Assisting with patient care in the receiving facility, including lifting and moving patients as required, and participating in hospital settings, such as trauma codes and critical cases, to provide hands-on training and assistance to hospital staff. Attending training classes to maintain national certification, state licensure, and staying current with new developments in the field, as well as teaching and educating other first responders in patient care, air ambulance safety courses, and helicopter landing procedures. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree in paramedic technology or paramedicine preferred. Completion of an accredited Paramedic Training Program and national registry status as a Paramedic. A minimum of three years' experience as a paramedic on a busy Advanced Life Support Ambulance service, with a thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices, and techniques. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Trauma training or equivalent, and Advanced Certifications (FP-C, CFRN, CCRN, CTRN, CEN, RNC) required within two years of hire, dependent on the individual's role. Ability to maintain a body weight of no more than 240 pounds and tolerate various flight conditions, including altitude physiology, weather conditions, and working within a pressurized aircraft. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous experience as a Flight Paramedic or in a related field, such as emergency medical services or critical care transport. Advanced certifications, such as FP-C, CFRN, CCRN, CTRN, CEN, or RNC, or the ability to obtain these certifications within two years of hire. Experience with air ambulance operations, helicopter safety, and emergency medical services protocols. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams in high-pressure situations.
