Job Summary As a Freight Handling and Data Entry Specialist at blithequark, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate movement of freight across our dock area. Your primary responsibilities will include performing freight handling tasks using motorized and manual equipment, verifying documentation, securing freight, and completing required reports. You will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with hostling duties, and complying with all applicable laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g., type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual systems Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, rope) Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary Verify and complete required documentation and reports Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed Perform hostling duties if required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures Perform other duties as required Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred Must be at least 18 years of age Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or fork lift operations preferred If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator Basic written and verbal communication skills Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift Ability to work independently and/or as a team member Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with data entry and warehouse management systems Knowledge of logistics and transportation regulations Certification in forklift operation or other relevant equipment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent customer service skills Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Attention to detail : Ability to accurately verify documentation and complete reports Physical stamina : Ability to lift, carry, and move freight throughout the shift Communication skills : Ability to effectively communicate with customers, colleagues, and management Teamwork : Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals Adaptability : Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities Time management : Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and complete tasks Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to providing our team members with opportunities for growth, learning, and development.
