Job Summary In this critical role, you will perform tasks of moderate to difficult complexity related to both hospital and physician accounts, handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients. You will be responsible for resolving billing concerns, addressing insurance-related inquiries, and assisting patients with requests for information, complaints, and resolving issues. Your expertise in data analysis and interpretation will be essential in determining reasons for denials, non-payment, and overpayment, as well as in preparing accounts for appeal and reviewing insurance credit balances. Key Responsibilities Handle a large volume of inbound and outbound calls related to billing and insurance inquiries, resolving issues and providing exceptional customer service to patients. Perform data analysis and interpretation to determine reasons for denials, non-payment, and overpayment, and prepare accounts for appeal. Review and analyze insurance credit balances, and research and resolve patient requests and issues in a timely and professional manner. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providing education on claim processing, deductible, coinsurance, and co-pays, and offering payment options and financial assistance as needed. Document billing activity on patient accounts according to departmental guidelines, ensuring compliance with all applicable billing regulations and reporting any suspected compliance issues to departmental leaders. Participate in general or special assignments, attend required training, and adhere to policies and procedures as required by blithequark. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or a post-high school diploma or highest degree earned, and at least two years of billing, bookkeeping, and/or accounting experience. You will also need to be knowledgeable of the job functions required for a variety of revenue cycle roles, including A/R Follow-up Representative, Cash Posting Representative, Claims Clearinghouse Representative, Correspondence Representative, Credit Processing Specialist, Denial/Appeals Specialist, Payment Research Specialist, and Quality Assurance Specialist. Preferred Qualifications While not required, experience with Epic and knowledge of the entire revenue cycle would be highly desirable. Additionally, certification in a related field, such as medical billing or coding, would be an asset. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. You will also need to be highly organized, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong knowledge of billing regulations, insurance guidelines, and compliance requirements is essential, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
