About the Role We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our remote team at United Airlines. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data-driven applications and systems. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement data pipelines and architectures that feed our business-critical systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute data requirements, data transformation, and data processing. Develop and maintain streaming and real-time data pipelines using modern technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, and Hadoop. Write unit tests and perform code reviews to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Develop and maintain clear documentation and troubleshoot issues. Drive the adoption of data engineering practices and tools within the Hadoop ecosystem. Train and mentor junior engineers to develop their skills and expertise. Develop and implement innovative solutions to automate data processing and improve data quality. Use agile methodologies to manage projects and collaborate with stakeholders. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field. At least 3 years of experience in software development, with a focus on data engineering. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and Scala. Experience with big data technologies such as PySpark, Hadoop, Hive, HBASE, Kafka, and Nifi. Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, and Teradata. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex data-related issues. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Certified Data Engineer or Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. Experience with agile methodologies and version control systems such as Git. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js. Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
