Our focus areas include clients, stores, and employees, in-store services, supplier equipment, supplier data science, and search and personalization. **What You'll Do** As a Staff Data Scientist at blithequark, you'll be responsible for leading the technical aspects of data science initiatives. Your primary focus will be on Customer Data Science projects, which may be short-term or long-term based on business needs. You'll mentor junior colleagues and implement best practices throughout the team. Your key responsibilities will include: ### Data Source Identification * Understand the concerned order of requirements and service level agreements * Define and identify the most suitable data sources for required data, considering external assets as required * Perform preliminary data quality tests on extracted data * Review the deliverables of junior colleagues and provide guidance ### Problem Formulation * Analyze business problems within your area of expertise and question assumptions to help the business perceive the root cause * Identify and recommend solutions to business problems * Set data analytics, big data analytics, automation goals, and deliverables based on setup achievement standards and outline key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of the solution * Quantify business impact ### Analytical Modeling * Select suitable modeling strategies for complex problems with large-scale, multiple established and unstructured data sets * Select and develop variables and features iteratively based on model responses in collaboration with the business * Conduct exploratory data analysis activities (e.g., basic statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, statistical inferences) on to-be-had data * Identify dimensions and designs of experiments and create test and research frameworks * Interpret data to identify trends to move across future data sets * Create continuous, online learning models including iterative model enhancements * Develop newer strategies (e.g., advanced machine learning algorithms, vehicle mobile ML) by leveraging the latest developments in machine learning, artificial intelligence to teach algorithms to use models to new data sets * Guide the team on feature engineering, experimentation, and advanced modeling strategies for use for complex problems with unstructured and multiple data sets (e.g., streaming data, raw text data) ### Model Deployment & Scaling * Ability to work with MLOps to push ML models to production * Continuously log and track model behavior once deployed against the described metrics * Identify model parameters that may need adjustments based on the scale of deployment * Code Development & Testing: Write code to develop the specified solution and application capabilities by identifying the right programming language and leveraging business, technical, and data requirements * Create test cases to learn and validate the proposed solution design * Create proofs of concept * Test the code using the right testing method * Contribute code documentation, maintain playbooks, and provide timely development updates ### Applied Business Acumen * Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives * Influence business stakeholder decision-making * Translate business requirements into strategies, projects, and initiatives and align them to business method and goals and drive the execution of deliverables * Build and articulate the business case and go back on investment and grants work that has demonstrable value * Challenge business assumptions on topics related to your area of expertise * Develop new organization-wide approaches and methods to working * Teach and train others on best practices * Proactively engage in the external network to build blithequark's brand and research more about business practices ### Model Assessment & Validation * Identify and review model assessment metrics based on analytical requirements * Apply appropriate strategies for model testing and tuning, to evaluate accuracy, fit, validity, and robustness * Ensure testing data is documented and maintained by the team ### Data Visualization and Storyteller * Identify and recommend the most suitable visualization tools based on context * Generate suitable graphical representations of data and model outcomes * Understand customer requirements to design suitable data representation for complex data sets and drive User Experience designers and User Interface engineers to build the front-end applications * Define application layout based on customer requirements * Build compelling stories based on context to combine multiple pieces of data into cohesive insights * Present to and impact various audiences using the right frameworks and convey clear messages through deep business and stakeholder knowledge * Customize communication style based on stakeholders and leverage relationships to drive behavioral change * Guide and mentor junior colleagues on story types, structures, and strategies based on context ### What You'll Bring * Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field * Deep knowledge and understanding of machine learning, statistics, data science in general * Strong programming skills in at least one of Python/R * Ability to execute projects end-to-end including junior colleagues * Implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, etc. * Clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners * Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations in simple
