Job Summary We're seeking an experienced and credentialed inpatient coder to join our team as a Remote Inpatient Medical Coder – Full Time. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a depth of knowledge in medical terminology, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities The ideal candidate for this role will possess a minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding facility experience and a strong understanding of medical terminology. Key responsibilities include: Reviewing medical records and assigning accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures Assigning and sequencing codes accurately based on medical record documentation Assigning the appropriate discharge disposition to medical records Abstracting and entering the coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements Communicating documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow-up and resolution Maintaining 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignment and meeting site-designated productivity standards Maintaining minimum production of 1 chart per hour or site-specific productivity standards Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills Communicating professionally with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues Qualifications To be successful in this role, you'll need to bring the following qualifications: A minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding facility experience CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification preferred Strong verbal and written communication skills Bonus points if you have: An Associate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AAPC with a preference for CCS Level 1 trauma facility experience Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software Perks and Benefits We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including: Full benefits, including a 401k Savings Plan Access to 20-24 free CEUs per year, provided by Datavant, to support your continuous professional development Compensation for AAPC/AHIMA dues Company-provided equipment, including a computer, monitor, mouse, etc. Comprehensive training led by a credentialed professional coding manager Exceptional service-style management and mentorship (we're in this together!) Compensation and Pay Range The estimated pay range for this role is $32 - $42 per hour, depending on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role.
