Job Summary Blithequark, a pioneer in the entertainment industry, is seeking an exceptional Lead Data Engineer to join our Information and Investigation group for Blithequark Web-based features (DSS), a section under the Blithequark Diversion and ESPN Innovation (DE&ET). As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing cutting-edge data solutions, products, and data warehouses that drive business growth and inform strategic decisions. Job Description As a Lead Data Engineer at Blithequark, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale data solutions that meet the needs of our business stakeholders. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and product managers, to ensure that our data products and solutions are aligned with business objectives and meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the design and development of data products and data warehouses focused on engagement, retention analysis, and data science. Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in large data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid). Collaborate with data product managers, data modelers, and data architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions. Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance. Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support obligations to our clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams). Be an active participant and contributor to agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Strong SQL skills and ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets. Hands-on experience with distributed systems like Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) to query and process data. Strong programming skills in Python, Java/Scala. Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query). Strong experience with data integration toolsets (i.e., Windstream) and writing and maintaining data pipelines. Solid understanding of data modeling techniques and data warehousing standard methods and practices. Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2). Knowledge of data architecture patterns and data governance best practices. Experience with data visualization tools and technologies. Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
