The resources, learning programs, and on-the-job training provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to give you foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and experiences you need to prepare to become a certified pharmacy technician. **Key Responsibilities:** * Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the exercise of pharmacy, according to national and federal regulations. * Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information and process prescriptions. * If PTCB licensed, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers. * Model and provide a unique and delightful customer experience. * Engage customers and patients by greeting them and providing assistance with services and products. * Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a superior customer experience. * Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers. * Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, personnel Pharmacist, and Store Supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records, filling prescriptions, and verifying medication accuracy. * Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow. * Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the quality improvement program. * Adhere to the arenaflex Co. Policy regarding accurate dispensing throughout all applicable prescription dispensing activities. * Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle coins as required. * Take customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in finding merchandise. * Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians. * Process (correct and resubmit) claims for third-party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager. * Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. * Maintain knowledge of company asset safety procedures, and document claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not obtained), order errors or broken goods related to Rx capsules. * May assist the pharmacist in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required; assist pharmacy staff in coordination of medical services, arenaflex healthcare clinics, and external vendors. * Assist the Pharmacy Supervisor and personnel Pharmacist in developing and maintaining true relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, through clinical provider detailing and outreach to healthcare agencies, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for reinforcing growth opportunities. * Assist with outdoor and indoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with sufficient supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in appearance and condition. * Comply with all company guidelines and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. * Complete unique assignments and other responsibilities as assigned. **Education & Personal Development:** * Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the arenaflex training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earn PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician. * Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager and acquire continuing education credit. Maintain expertise and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest information and developments. * Through completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, experience qualifies for 8 (8) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This course is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of 8 semester hours. **Basic Qualifications:** * Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (except in Puerto Rico) * Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for long periods of time. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Choose to have six months of experience in a retail environment. * Choose to have previous work experience with arenaflex. * Choose to have desirable math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications. * Choose to have correct computer skills. * Choose to have knowledge of store inventory management. * Prefer PTCB certification. **About arenaflex:** arenaflex, formally referred to as arenaflex Boots Alliance, Inc., is a leading American pharmacy and retail company with a large presence in the USA and other countries.
