Job Overview In this role, you will be an integral part of a product engineering or delivery and integration team, reporting to an Engineering Lead. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of software applications, participate in code reviews, and troubleshoot programming components. Key Responsibilities Develop and test software applications, including ongoing refactoring of code and driving continuous improvement in code structure and quality Participate in code reviews and digital testing, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability Troubleshoot essential programming components and identify code defects for remediation Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments Automate solutions in test or production environments, leveraging your expertise in programming languages and software development methodologies Scale applications based on demand projections, ensuring seamless performance and reliability Lead a small team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help them achieve their goals and develop their skills Influence colleagues with innovative ideas and improvements, fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. You should also have at least 3 years of software development experience, with a strong background in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala. Experience with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, and Hive, is also essential. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, financial reporting environments, and distributed systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, building microservices and scalable solutions Knowledge of Kafka streams or pipelines, with experience in designing and building solutions using these technologies Familiarity with GitHub or Bitbucket, and experience with CI/CD pipelines Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB Excellent technical and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas and solutions effectively Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in software development, with expertise in programming languages, data structures, and software design patterns. You should also have experience with agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, and be familiar with DevOps practices and tools.
