Job Highlights Location: Council Bluffs, IA (with remote work options) Compensation: Competitive hourly rate ($18.00 - $23.00 per hour) with a comprehensive benefits package Company: Vanguard College Prep, a rapidly expanding and innovative educational institution Start Date: Immediate openings available for the right candidate Position: Full-Time Math Instructor, responsible for teaching and mentoring middle and high school students in math core skills Job Description As a Math Instructor at Vanguard College Prep, you will be responsible for instructing small groups of students in math core skills, promoting long-term understanding of topics and top scores in college readiness exams (ACT & SAT). You will track student progress, engage students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities, and model professionalism and strong organizational skills. You will also be responsible for developing and executing lesson plans, mentoring students with empathy and understanding, and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Instruct small groups of students in math core skills, focusing on long-term understanding and top scores in college readiness exams Track student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and developing targeted growth and improvement plans Model professionalism and strong organizational skills, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with students and colleagues Develop and execute lesson plans, incorporating innovative and engaging teaching methods, and utilizing practical, real-world examples to inspire a love for learning Mentor students with empathy and understanding, recognizing the increasing competitiveness and stress of the college application process Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, education, or a related STEM field (Master's or higher preferred). You will also need to have teaching experience in math and/or experience working in a college-level tutoring center (1+ years). A GPA of 3.5 or higher is required, as well as proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites. Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction is also necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching at the college or community college level Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy, and the ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans Desire to help students recognize, reach for, and realize their fullest potential A dynamic and outgoing personality, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with a strong commitment to collaboration and leadership Mastery of SAT and ACT Math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics Why Join Vanguard College Prep?
