Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Graphic Design educator to join our team as a Fundamentals of Graphic Design Canvas Instructor. As a part-time instructor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering an online course on the fundamentals of graphic design, utilizing the Canvas learning management platform. Key Responsibilities Develop online course materials and learning assessments for the Fundamentals of Graphic Design course, utilizing the Canvas System as the course support platform Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and evaluate student achievement of these outcomes Assign grades (pass/fail) and post final student grades to the Extended Studies registration system by set deadlines Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner, and provide individualized support and feedback to students Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of graphic design, and participate in required meetings, orientation, and complete mandatory training programs Complete required administrative tasks in a timely manner, including employing culturally competent and inclusive teaching methodologies in the classroom Course Description The Fundamentals of Graphic Design course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental principles of graphic design, including imagemaking, typography, composition, working with color and shape, and foundational skills that are common in all areas of graphic design practice. Through visual examples and hands-on exercises, students will learn to explore and investigate visual representation, understand basic principles of working with shape, color, and pattern, and develop a core set of graphic design skills that can be applied to their own projects or further investigation of specialized areas of graphic design.
