Job Overview As an In-Person Math Tutor for Grades 5-9, you will be responsible for providing personalized, in-person tutoring to students in math, with a focus on preparing them for exams such as the SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT. You will work closely with each student to understand their unique learning style, strengths, and challenges, and develop customized lesson plans that cater to their individual needs and goals. Your expertise and guidance will play a crucial role in helping students build confidence, improve their understanding of math concepts, and achieve academic success. Key Responsibilities Provide in-person tutoring sessions to students in grades 5-9, focusing on math and test preparation for exams like the SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT. Design and execute tailored lesson plans for each student, taking into account their learning style, pace, and academic objectives. Administer practice exams to assess student progress, identify areas of improvement, and adjust lesson plans accordingly. Collaborate with students' families to keep them informed about progress, provide feedback, and ensure a cohesive support system. Stay updated on changes to the SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT exams and modify lesson plans as necessary to ensure students are well-prepared. Maintain accurate, detailed records of tutoring sessions, including student progress, scores, and areas of focus. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Education, Mathematics, or a related discipline. Experience in tutoring, teaching, or test preparation, with a focus on math and exam preparation. Past experience teaching or tutoring students in grades 5-9, particularly in math, is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, understand their needs, and communicate effectively with families. The ability to develop customized lesson plans that cater to individual students' learning styles and academic goals. A flexible schedule, with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required to accommodate students' needs. Self-motivation, independence, and a commitment to helping students succeed.
